I'm sure you're familiar with this one. Tulamben is a diving site famous for the USAT Liberty shipwreck, which is located not far from the beach. The ship is home to rich coral reefs and marine life, making it a perfect spot for both beginner and expert divers. With good visibility and easy access, Tulamben has become one of Bali's favorite spots. In fact, this was my first dive site, with zero experience — and guess what? I did really well! One of my favorite spots in Bali. Nusa Penida offers unforgettable diving experiences (seriously!), particularly at Crystal Bay and Manta Point. Here, you can swim with the graceful manta rays, and if you're lucky, you may bump into mola-mola during certain seasons. This spot is suitable for divers with intermediate to advanced experience. However, I know some ticketing booths will tell you that it's safe for beginners, and the package you pay for will come with a guide. But still, guys, I wouldn't recommend that you do that. The waves of Nusa Penida are quite bumpy, and especially at Manta Point, they're quite craggy. So please, don't be reckless if you have no experience at all, okay?

The calm waters and excellent visibility make it ideal for enjoying the beautiful coral reefs and unique underwater formations. It is also perfect for beginners who want to learn to dive in a safe environment! Hey, actually, if you're too scared to dive, you can still enjoy the underwater scenery by just snorkeling on the beach. This area here is very well preserved, so even without diving too deep, you can already spot some gorgeous tropical fish!

Beyond that, diving certifications (PADI, SSI) are available at an additional cost of around IDR 4,500,000 to IDR 6,500,000, which usually includes theory lessons, exams, and a few days of diving in known safe locations.

Do I need advanced certification to dive in Bali?

The quick answer is no. You don't need a certification to dive in Bali. Many dive sites in Bali are beginner-friendly, with calm, shallow waters like Menjangan Island and Liberty Shipwreck in Tulamben, which are ideal for learning.
