10 Best Restaurants in Sanur – Tried & Reviewed by Experts
As someone who has lived in Bali for 12 years, I’ve known Sanur has some of the best restaurants in Bali. The quality of the food (which is important to me) is always top-notch, but the service and the vibe still have that friendly old-Balinese charm. And I can vouch for all the glowing reviews on Google, TripAdvisor, and their popularity on social media; these 16 restaurants are that good!
What you’re going to see is more than just a bunch of listed restaurants or top cafes in Sanur. You’ll see some of my favorites for:
Best for Sunday Dim-sum – Jalapeño
Top Family-Friendly Spot – Sala Sanur
Local Hidden Gem – Moreno
And I’ll be digging more about their specialty and what makes them a must-visit whenever you stop by in Sanur. Get ready, because Sanur is going to burst some exciting flavors in your mouth!

1. Lava Gastrobar & Grill
Lava Gastobar opened its doors in 2025 and quickly became a serious contender among Sanur’s best restaurants. Their concept is pretty unique for a steakhouse in Bali. Inspired by Bali’s volcanic landscapes, the restaurant’s design features dark, stone-like walls, soft lighting, rattan touches, and light woods to keep the tropical feeling alive. As you dine, you’ll catch the rich scent of smoke in the air — your food is grilled right in front of you, not just over an open flame, but on the volcanic rock itself.
The flavors are bold, the ingredients are primarily local, and the vibe hits just right. Here’s my ideal order: kick off with Grilled Honey Carrots or Beef Tartare, move on to the Mushroom Risotto (creamy, earthy, perfect), and finish strong with the LaVa Choux — a dessert that looks like it could’ve been chipped off a volcano. Throw in a cocktail (or two), and you’ll be raving about it just like I am.

2. COSTA
At COSTA Beach Restaurant Sanur, dining moves to the rhythm of the sea. Set directly on the shoreline, it’s designed for relaxed brunches, long beachside afternoons, and sunset dinners that flow into the evening. A covered beachfront space keeps the atmosphere comfortable in any weather, live music adds subtle evening energy, and a kids’ playground makes it an easy choice for families without breaking the laid-back mood.
The menu blends Mediterranean and Asian influences with a clear focus on seafood. Fresh fish dishes, handmade pasta, artisan pizza, and the signature mahi mahi with lemongrass coconut sauce define the kitchen. A sommelier-curated wine list available by the glass and a cocktail menu built around spritzes and house-made sangria complete an atmosphere designed for unhurried, seaside dining in Sanur.

3. Sala Sanur
Sala Sanur feels like home, in the most comforting way. The beef broth in the Brisket Bakmie is flavorful on its own, but with braised beef and sesame oil? Matchmake in heaven! The battered fish in the So Fish Burger is so crunchy yet tender that you can really ditch the buns (better not!).

While the Very Berry Juice will get your thirst sorted, what sets Sala Sanur apart is not the balcony seating or the air-conditioned room on the second floor. It’s the dog menu! You can tag your pups along, and order your lovely furry friend Hearty Beef or Chicken Quinoa. There’s no reason not to have a lively brunch at Sala Sanur.

4. Jalapeño
Jalapeño heats the dining scene in Sanur with the three T’s: tequilas, Tex-Mex, and tacos. Here’s where the bold flavors from Mexican Cheezy Birria De Res reign in the form of beef quesadilla. Add tangy (and strong!) Apasionada as your comrade, and you get the perfect drink-meal combo to spice up your dinner in Sanur.

Although Lilla Pantai focuses on Balinese and Indonesian dishes, they also serve International menus like burgers, sandwiches, steaks, and pasta. FAQ
The Sanur branch of Santorini is easily one of the best Greek restaurants in Bali. But you need to go to Kala in Uluwatu and Nostimo in Seminyak for authentic Greek food in Bali.
Expert Opinion
The dining scene in Sanur can certainly compete with Uluwatu and Kuta, even without the lively nightlife. Although Sanur doesn’t offer the broad-ranging fine dining found in Seminyak, Nusa Dua, or Ubud, it positions itself in the middle, where the food is extraordinary, the beachfront setting is relaxing, and the price is moderate. The closest vibe to Sanur is probably Gili Trawangan, sans the party scene, and Gili Air, without its cidomo.
