We all know that Bali is not only famous for its stunning beaches, sprawling rice fields, and rich culture but also for being a world-class culinary destination. Overstated? No, honey, I don't think so. Just sayin', authentic Italian pizza? Got it. French pastries? Everywhere. Oh, how about Mediterranean cuisine? Duh, there's plenty!

If you're craving a Santorini vibe, minus the pricey flights, don't worry! How about we go to some Greek restaurants in Bali, for starters? Starting from my top fave juicy gyros, creamy moussaka, and rich souvlaki, Bali has some of the best Mediterranean restaurants scattered all around from Ubud to Canggu! Read on to find out about the best ones below!

  • 1. CHORA Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar, Ubud

Conveniently set in the heart of Ubud, on the popular Jl. Bisma, this Greek restaurant in Ubud blends the essence of Mediterranean culture with the welcoming vibe of Balinese tropics. CHORA's interior design is simply stunning, with a minimalist concept dominated by clean white colors and natural wood elements. Rattan chandeliers give the place a tropical twist, while large windows bring an Instagrammable look to the space.

CHORA puts a lot of attention on fresh ingredients in every dish. Starters like spanakopita (spinach pie with feta cheese) and fried calamari are the crowd pleasers. Oh, and of course, the lamb gyros served with warm pita bread, fries and creamy tzatziki is a must-try when it comes to Greek dishes!

  • 2. Nostimo Greek Grill, Seminyak

Presenting a pretty identical Greek-style dining, Nostimo Greek Grill Bali is your next stop if you find yourself craving for an authentic Greek cuisine in the Seminyak area. With branches in Seminyak, and Ubud, they have brought quality Greek dining to the island.

Their menu is a no-brainer! Earning 4.7 stars on Google makes this place one of the top Greek restaurants in Bali. Dishes like their creamy tzatziki to soutzoukakia platter are a highlight. But guys, since this place is famous for its grill, let's move on to what I think is not to be missed: Grilled lamb chops. Oh, they’re juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. Don't forget to pair them with your favorite wine or cocktail!

    • Location: Google Maps

    • Opening hours: 11 AM – 09.30 PM

  • 3. Mykonos Greek Restaurant, Seminyak

This one brings the island feel of Santorini straight to Seminyak, a great place to have an authentic Greek dining experience in Bali. No, seriously, the interior layout is dominated by ocean blue and white hues, plus decorative elements like Greek murals and chandeliers that make this place look like an exact copy-paste of Santorini. Before you enter, however, remember that Mykonos has a strict dress code. If you don’t wear shoes or a shirt, you won’t be able to eat at the restaurant.

Menu-wise, the selection includes some classic Greek dishes like gyros, souvlaki, beef moussaka, and tzatziki. I personally wouldn't miss their salads, especially the Greek salad with fresh ingredients like tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese. Not a fan of veggies? Easy, how about the watermelon feta salad? Whatever you choose, be sure to get the crowd-pleaser baklava for the final course.

  • 4. Pantarei, Canggu

Among all the things Seminyak has to offer, the Pantarei Restaurant is probably the best thing for lovers of Greek food and olive oil! I would describe Pantarei as a place where authentic Greek cuisine meets the tropical atmosphere of Bali. Yep, rather than trying hard to follow the original Santorini design, Pantarei just has a very sleek and modern look that's Insta-worthy in its own way (I mean, Insta-worthiness needs to be mentioned, right, ladies?).

Specialties include traditional moussaka, mixed meat plate, and souvlaki. They also have a wide range of pasta and seafood options if you just suddenly want something slightly more familiar. The dessert list is equally diverse! From the must-try baklava and loukomades to the mundane like cream caramel, apple cake, and ice cream scoop.

  • 5. Santorini, Canggu

Okay, let's start with the name first. Straightforward, is it? As you can imagine, this place feels straight out of the largest Greek island, Santorini. Santorini Canggu is one of the places you can take your friends to and have some of the best dishes the Mediterranean world has to offer.

Not to be outdone, their menu features a variety of classic Greek dishes that include souvlaki, grilled octopus, moussaka, and gemista. If you want something dippable and more diverse, go for the mixed grill or mix meze plate. Their portions are pretty big, too. I always go for the souvlaki pita with the pork gyros — the sour, savory, and smoky, combined with the tender meat and soft pita bread leaves me craving for more when I think about it. In case you're wondering — yes, they also have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

    • Average price: US $15

    • Opening hours: 9 AM – 11.30 PM

  • 6. Milos Warung Souvlaki, Seminyak

Warung Souvlaki is a place that presents Greek flavors in a simple yet appetizing way. Perfectly situated in the center of Seminyak, this restaurant has a Santorini-themed ambiance (obviously), with minimalist decor that instantly reminds you of traditional Greek restaurants. From the small wooden tables, the chandeliers, the white and blue tones on the walls, and the cobblestone floors.

What stands out about this place is how they deliver authentic dishes that are just as good as the other, while being a bit cheaper than the rest — now, THAT is the real deal. The number of times people have walked into the Warung Souvlaki, ordered the Moussaka dish and been blown away by how cheap it is at only $3 is a story unto itself.

  • 7. KALA, Uluwatu

My go-to for grabbing my favorite souvlaki when in Ulu — KALA is a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Greek cuisine in an aesthetic setting. Unlike other restaurants that use blue and white as their dominant theme, KALA goes for a warmer and artsy vibe, with natural touches like limestone and wood, and semi-finished walls that can be your OOTD-check background.

    Source: @kala.uluwatu

KALA's menu blends Western with Greek, which is a bit pricier than others. But honestly, it's well worth the taste and quality. You can start with mezze like babaganush and dolmadakia before moving on to main courses that include spanakopita or the giant trevally fish fillet. Oh, and they also have an extensive selection of cocktails, wines and spirits (even more than the food menu). So, if you're not that hungry yet, you can hang out over some drinks before ordering the mains.

    Detailed info about KALA

    • Average price: US $13

    • Location: Google Maps

    • Opening hours: 2 PM – 11.30 PM

Expert Opinion

Well, how was it? Have you started to imagine the thrill of exploring the Greek cuisine in Bali? I'd say this still counts as a low-budget Greek short escape, who's with me? I mean, you can just explore two to three restaurants a day to soak in the vibe and enjoy the rich and flavorful Mediterranean specialties. Be it affordable, sub-par, or even upscale ones with an identical vibe, they're all on offer — all you gotta do is choose. So, no biggie, I'll wrap it up with my top three picks:

Chora, Nostimo, Santorini

The reasons why I choose these, of course, are because of the quality of the food, the freshness, and the atmosphere. Plus, the owner and chef will sometimes greet you at your table, showing a higher level of respect for the customers.
