Penglipuran Village Festival – July 3 to 5, 2025
Cultural traditions, village parades, and community rituals in one of Bali’s most iconic (and famous) villages.
Penglipuran Village Festival is a yearly celebration that feels like a genuine invitation to that Bali village life. It’s held right in the heart of the serene, clean, and deeply traditional Penglipuran village — where locals open up their streets and homes to share a mix of cultural rituals, performances, and traditional games. There are dance showcases, mekidung chanting, culinary booths serving home-cooked specialties, and bamboo decorations lining the main path. Uh um, It’s a great way to see the local vibe without feeling like you’re in a tourist show.
Unlike the polished shows you often see in the south, this one is humble and rooted in daily Balinese life. Kids play in the streets, elders lead prayers and rituals at the family temples, and the whole village gets involved in preparing for the festivities. It’s the kind of event where you feel welcome to just walk around, join in a ceremony, or sit down with locals for a bite and a chat.
