Sushi in one of the best restaurants in Seminyak

Tourists in Bali visit the temples and the beaches. But most people keep returning for the fantastic food Indonesia has to offer. In the past two decades, Japanese food has gained immense popularity. To the point where some tourists from Japan visit only to check the authenticity of their food overseas! But we’re not doing that. We’re exploring the streets of Seminyak to spot the most irresistible Japanese sushi places in Bali.

1. Take Sushi

Question. How good is your knowledge of Japanese food? Because if you know your food well, you’ll be able to order more than the regular sushi and sashimi at this brilliant restaurant. This beautiful Japanese restaurant has two floors with an authentic decor for seating its guests. You can choose between sitting on the floor like a traditional Asian or among the tables. Or you can sit at the sushi bar instead! There is no right answer or the right seat in the house!

Getting to the food, you can have live seafood available at your request. The chef chops raw fish and other seafood specialties and hands them to you at their counter. If that’s what you want, you can pick from their extensive 44-page menu! They have everything! From Ramen bowls to Yaki Soba, from Udon noodles to a Sushi boat with every kind of nigiri!

You don’t want those either? Enjoy a hot plate of Gyoza instead or fresh prawn tempura and Taki Yokis. They have it all! Make sure you brush up on your Japanese and their dinner menu, so you don’t spend hours reading the menu itself. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

2. Sushimi Sushi

This place lacks the extensive 44-page menu, but it makes up for it with the wider variety of sushi options on the menu. Their specialities include sushi burritos, sushi doughnuts, and many others served on their sushi train! Fair warning: it is very easy to lose track of how much we can actually eat, but remember, rice and other sushi ingredients can be quite filling!

But that is no reason to cut the feast short! Diners here enjoy a wide range of maki, fresh salmon delicious sashimi, and house wines! You read that right! They have a fancy collection of red, white, and rosè wines among their other drinks on the menu.

3. Ryoshi Sushi House of Jazz

This is Denpasar’s most happening place! With jazz performances and Japanese flavours, you will find yourself transported to 90s Kyoto! You know how they say a mark of a good Chinese restaurant is when you see a lot of the local Chinese folk flocking there? The same applies to every cuisine, obviously! No matter sun or rain, Japanese tourists make it a point to visit the Ryoshi house of Jazz during their visit to Bali.

The food looks unoriginal at first glance, but the people don’t come here to be entertained by their food. There’s music for that! The ambiance, combined with a table full of sushi, is bound to make your night a memorable one. A local birdie says their Miso soup is home-brewed, and any meal here is incomplete without it!

4. Aburi Sushi

No matter where you go, this will most likely be the most extended menu you will ever come across. Granted, most of their dishes cater to sushi lovers, but it is nonetheless a long menu. Their most ordered and homegrown addition to the menu involves sushi with a dollop of Aburi sauce on top. Now, is this spicy, cheesy, creamy, or all three and more? You decide.

The chefs have also prepared for you a variety of other delicacies. Ramen bowls, tempura, Agemano, and you name it! Scrolling down the list of their available food will make you wonder if the team has left no Japanese dish behind. But we know better!

This is the kind of hotel you want to keep going back to because every item on the menu is lip-smackingly good. And with a menu as long as the wall of China, you’ll have to keep going back to try them all!

Expert opinion

I’ve given Bali ten years of my life. I have no regrets or complaints! In fact, I want to spend many more years to come on this beautiful island. This also means that I’ve tried every sushi place under the Bali sun and kept going back to ensure consistent quality.

Sushi has become a popular favourite among not just the tourists but the locals too. The fresh seafood and the high quality of preparation makes it irresistible. Based on the last decade alone, it’s safe to say that there will be more Japanese restaurants popping up in Bali. Tourists will not want to put their chopsticks down!

Take Sushi, Ryoshi Sushi House of Jazz, Mad Ronin

Quality of food, service, prices, and the atmosphere play major factors in the making of a great dining experience. Thanks to the chefs in these places, the food has remained the same. These places have a way to steal your heart and not leave your pockets dry! So when in Bali, eat like a Balinese!
