All You Need to Know Before Visiting Ubud Art Market

Okay, in general, we all know that Ubud Art Market is a paradise for art lovers and unique souvenirs! But before plunging into this famous spot, there are a few things you need to know. Trust me, this will save you from 'tourist price' shock!

  • Prices can be negotiated.

If you immediately agree to the first price given, well... too bad. Try bargaining with a sweet smile to get the 'morning price'!

  • Come early = more fun!

Thinking of getting fresh air plus cheaper prices? Come before 9 AM. Plus, you won't have to elbow your way through the crowds of other tourists. Win-win!

Some stores already accept digital payments, but many still only accept cash. So, before going shopping, make sure you have some.

  • Prepare to get lost (and have fun!).

This market is like a maze of wonders! Consider it an adventure if you suddenly get lost in a pile of rattan bags!

Stumbled across these markets today. In a good location, however traffic around the area is quite chaotic. Markets had everything you could look for , lots of souvenirs and hand crafted items. Vendors were willing to haggle , no one was too in your face or demanding for you to buy. Overall enjoyable experience, definitely one of the better markets in Bali.

I was a bit disappointed. I saw some great reviews and thought there’d be more unique art or cool souvenirs, but most of the stalls sell very similar items. The market is huge though, so there’s a lot to explore. ‼️Most vendors only take cash and you really need to be comfortable with bargaining here. If you are not good at it, this place might not be for you, otherwise, you’ll likely end up overpaying for everything. One vendor overheard me talking on the phone with my family while I was picking out gifts. Once they realized I was definitely gonna buy the items, they refused to lower the price.
