Move over, Kelingking Beach, because Angel’s Billabong should be the next icon in Nusa Penida. I know one of the must-see and things to do in Nusa Penida is your shot with the T-Rex-shaped cliff of Kelingking as the background. But if you think Nusa Penida has no other iconic spots, you will rearrange your list once you see the infinity pool at Angel’s Billabong.

Among a million things to do in Bali, you need luck when visiting Angel’s Billabong. Because in a split second, the natural pool can turn into a death trap (and no, I’m not kidding). So, why do you need great luck before coming here? Scroll down because I’m going to tell you exactly what you need to catch the natural pool.

Our experts experience from Angel's Billabong

The natural pool at the Angel’s Billabong beach is something you can’t find easily in Bali, and it’s stunning — especially at low tide. But for safety reasons, I don’t recommend jumping in unless you’re a strong swimmer and have quick reflexes as the sudden waves can be extremely dangerous.

Photography Opportunities

Angel’s Billabong has a few spots to take stunning photos. You can walk to the cliff's edge to get the trifecta background: the Nusa Penida hills, the turquoise water, and the sky.

Swimming

The natural pool at  Angel’s Billabong is unlike some beaches in Bali as you can only swim during low tide. Even so, in seconds, the big waves can enter the pool without warning.

Nearby Attractions

Broken Beach

Broken Beach is another icon of Nusa Penida, which is walkable from Angel’s Billabong. Just don’t stand too close to the edge of the arched limestone as the beach lacks border rails.

Manta Ray Viewpoint

Nusa Penida is clearly one of the best diving places in Bali. But you can stand at the top of the cliff, and you may be able to spot the manta rays swimming without having to dive!

Guide for visiting Angel’s Billabong Beach

Why do We Choose the Angel's Billabong Beach

What We Like

  • The infinity pool. Despite it being dangerous, it’s one of a kind in Nusa Penida.

  • The scenic view. The view from the cliff’s edge is one of the best in Nusa Penida.

  • Photo spots. The cliff’s edge has a million dollar background.

  • Broken Beach. You can walk to another icon of Nusa Penida.

What We Don't

  • Unpredictable waves. The waves can enter the natural pool in an instant.

  • Hot weather. Nusa Penida is drier and hotter than Bali’s main island, so avoid coming in the midday.

  • Too many people. The spot near the infinity pool can be overly crowded.

FAQ

Is Angel's Billabong safe for swimming?

Yes, only during the low tide. But the natural pool is relatively small, so you don’t have many rooms to move. Stay close to the edge in case a sudden wave comes.

The lagoon/pool formation created by nature is a stunning spectacle and serves as a picturesque setting for photos. The surrounding cliffs, accompanied by the roaring waves, add to the overall beauty of the scene.

Beautiful viewpoint of the Broken beach and Angels Billabong on our trip to Nusa Penida. Disguise were crystal clear and we were able to see such beautiful views from the top of the cliffs. I really enjoyed the day except it was very, very hot.

Good spot to take some pics, nothing more. Folks come to do snorkeling here. Walkable distance from the Broken Beach. Involves some walking to reach the spot and the paths are narrow and not in great condition. No charge to visit.

Hi everyone! My name is Catur, and I was born and raised in Central Java. I moved to Bali in 2011 but left the island in 2016 before returning in 2018. Bali feels more than a home to me, and maybe that’s why my name feels like a premonition. Catur means four, both in the Balinese and Javanese languages. It is spoken like ‘c’ in chess, which is also the meaning of my name in Indonesian.
