Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak is one of Bali’s most iconic beach clubs, known for its relaxed vibe, stunning Indian Ocean views, and unique design featuring reclaimed antique shutters and windows. This eco-friendly approach has been part of the club's identity long before sustainability became a trend.

More than just a beach club for watching sunsets or enjoying parties, Potato Head is an entire ecosystem. It includes Potato Head Studios, a luxury hotel ranked among the World’s 50 Best Hotels in 2023, alongside several restaurants and bars, an amphitheater, a wellness center, and an art gallery—all in one spot.

With no dress code but plenty of room for style, Potato Head Beach Club also stands out as one of the few Bali beach clubs that allow pets. These thoughtful details make it a top destination, always lively and setting the standard for beach clubs in Bali.

Our Experience at Potato Head Beach Club, Bali

As one of the pioneers of the beach clubs in Seminyak and Bali, we knew in advance that our experience at Potato Head Beach Club would be one to capture for your benefit. Although it wasn't our first visit, Potato Head Beach Club maintained our expectations and gave us a similar great service as before.

Facilities at Potato Head Beach Club, Bali

Potato Head Beach Club, Bali may only have one outdoor swimming pool, but the infinity pool was never packed with people when we were there. Most people chose to sit on their daybeds or went to swim on the beach.

As we mentioned earlier, there is also the Potato Head Studio. If you wish to stay inside the Desa Potato Head ecosystem, we've heard many great things about being there. It is also home to some of the best restaurants in Bali, with six dining options: Kaum Restaurant, Dome Restaurant, Tanaman Restaurant, Beachfront Restaurant, Pizza Garden, and Ijen Restaurant.

If you're looking for a bar to drink at, Desa Potato Head has Akademi, which is an open-air cocktail bar, and Sunset Park, a rooftop bar facing the glorious Indian Ocean.

What We Like and What We Don't Like About Potato Head Beach Club, Bali

What We Like

  • The options for dining are remarkable. We really love the concept of having different restaurants for different purposes, as we can have Indonesian food at Kaum and enjoy the seafood at Ijen. Those at Potato Head are some of the most exquisite!

  • The pets policy. Though we didn't see any pets when we were there, knowing that they allow pets to go inside the beach club is something we definitely appreciate.

  • The kids' splash pool is thoughtful! In a place where kids are often overlooked, having a kids' pool is another reason why this Seminyak Beach Club remains popular.

  • The design and the location are breathtaking. The reclaimed shutters and windows and the overall design of Potato Head are full of characters, and everything is thoroughly curated.

  • Desa Potato Head should be the standard everywhere in Bali. With the hotel, restaurants, bars, and beach club, we hope that this kind of ecosystem can be applied to most Bali beach clubs.

What We Don't Like

  • The open area means there is no dedicated space for smokers. It was hard to ignore the smoke after a while since many people were smoking, and this was the first thing that we didn't like about Potato Head Beach Club.

  • The service could have been better. There were a few instances where they repeated the same information, as if we didn't hear it the first time around. Maybe this was because the place was packed, but the service could have been better.

  • Though it is advertised that walk-ins are welcome, in reality, you still have to book in advance to get a seat. We witnessed some people feeling disappointed as they couldn't get a seat because the place was full, so we advise for you to book in advance.

Expert Opinion about Potato Head Beach Club, Bali

An ecosystem like Desa Potato Head is exactly what differentiates Potato Head Beach Club from other beach clubs in Bali. This is more than just a where to dance or party in Bali place, even though we couldn't help but bop along to the beat played by the resident DJ.

Although we weren't overly impressed by the service (and we clearly weren't the only ones agreeing on this issue) and the smokes can be annoying, we still highly recommend Potato Head Beach Club to visit if you happen to be in the Seminyak area. Our advice is to book in advance to secure a seat or arrive during the day to avoid the crowd.

Even after a decade, Potato Head Beach Club has remained a pioneer in the beach club scene in Bali and is among visitors' key things to do in Seminyak. Its commitment to sustainability and consistent delivery of quality are the real foundations of Potato Head Beach Club, which maintains its status as one of the best beach clubs in Bali.

One of the best beach clubs in Bali imo. No minimum spend for the bar. We just wanted to have a drink then use the pool for a couple hours so was great. Defo going back here.

Hi everyone! My name is Catur, and I was born and raised in Central Java. I moved to Bali in 2011 but left the island in 2016 before returning in 2018. Bali feels more than a home to me, and maybe that’s why my name feels like a premonition. Catur means four, both in the Balinese and Javanese languages. It is spoken like ‘c’ in chess, which is also the meaning of my name in Indonesian.
