Hidden in the middle of Ubud's lush and serene tropical forest, stepping into Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan feels like stepping into another world. The resort has iconic architecture in the shape of a giant lotus, and a view that leads directly to the green rice fields and the Ayung River flowing below. Fancy a fun fact? This place was once the filming location for the movie Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts — no wonder, the aura of this place does have its own magical appeal!

Our experts experience from Four Season Resort Bali at Sayan

Reservation

Reservations at Four Seasons Sayan are extremely easy and can be made directly through their official website or reputable booking platforms. But since the resort is quite popular and has a limited number of villas, advance reservations are highly recommended, especially if you come during the holiday season.

Parking

As for parking, stay calm — the parking area is decent and safe, even though it's not super spacious due to the resort's concept of blending in with nature. If you come by private car or a rental, valet staff will be on hand to greet you from the moment you arrive.

Service

Right from check-in to check-out, the service here is truly five-star. As soon as you arrive, you'll be handed a welcome drink and the staff's friendly smiles. They’re so  well-trained, polite and attentive, but not overly rigid. Rooms are always super clean and tidy, turn-down service is also done with great detail. And best of all, every interaction feels personalized-as if you're the only guest they're serving that day. Four Seasons really knows how to make you feel special.

Why Do We Choose Four Season Resort Bali at Sayan

This is one of the most perfect resorts; close to the center of Ubud but still feeling like an escape from everything. It's only about 10 minutes from the center, but the vibe changes completely as soon as you step inside. Surrounded by lush tropical forest and a direct view of the Ayung River flowing below, this resort gives you a serenity that you can't find in the city center.

Put simply, this hotel is exceptional. The sublime setting, the stunning architecture, the delicious food, the excellent facilities, the feeling of serenity. But above all, it is the warmth and hospitality of the staff that elevate it and make it so very memorable. Our stay here was quite magical and restorative. And quite unforgettable.

This was our first visit to Sayan and we went there after a week in Jimbaran Bay on the beach. The property is charming, and you enter with a walk across the bridge which was the exact same way my protagonist enters into a fantasy land in a screenplay I wrote recently. This was significant because the property does feel a bit like a fantasy land of lily ponds and rice paddies carved into a jungle with a river running through it. Our villa was stunning (multilevel with stairs circling down.) The top level had a lily pond to rest and watch the river. A circular staircase brings you into a villa with a vast outside and pool, then into a room with traditional art and carvings that changed character with turn down service. Just beautiful. I was excited about Sayan’s Spa and award-winning treatments which did not disappoint. We really loved the “sacred nap” and “Can You Keep a Secret?” excursion. It’s a small property (60 rooms I think) and unique experience. Note: there are LOTS of stairs, hills, and no elevators on property. If you go, don’t forget the sacred nap.

This hotel was out of this world. The view, the service, everything. We recommend to play music with the artists in the reception and try the anti gravity yoga. Food was great. They seem to be very organised and coordinated at the hotel. No noise or pollution and surrounded by nature. A bit expensive but worth it.

Hi, Anastasia here! I was born and raised in Bali, which means I’ve basically been island-hopping, waterfall-chasing, and café-hunting since forever. Over the years, I’ve reviewed more than 185 places — focusing on nature spots like secret beaches, scenic trails, and cultural corners, while also keeping up with the latest restaurants, cafés, and beach clubs. Through OnBali, I share real, first-hand insights to help you explore Bali like a local and discover the kind of places that don’t always make it onto Instagram.
