Hidden in the middle of Ubud's lush and serene tropical forest, stepping into Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan feels like stepping into another world. The resort has iconic architecture in the shape of a giant lotus, and a view that leads directly to the green rice fields and the Ayung River flowing below. Fancy a fun fact? This place was once the filming location for the movie Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts — no wonder, the aura of this place does have its own magical appeal!

Our experts experience from Four Season Resort Bali at Sayan

Reservation

Reservations at Four Seasons Sayan are extremely easy and can be made directly through their official website or reputable booking platforms. But since the resort is quite popular and has a limited number of villas, advance reservations are highly recommended, especially if you come during the holiday season.

Parking

As for parking, stay calm — the parking area is decent and safe, even though it's not super spacious due to the resort's concept of blending in with nature. If you come by private car or a rental, valet staff will be on hand to greet you from the moment you arrive.

Service

Right from check-in to check-out, the service here is truly five-star. As soon as you arrive, you'll be handed a welcome drink and the staff's friendly smiles. They’re so  well-trained, polite and attentive, but not overly rigid. Rooms are always super clean and tidy, turn-down service is also done with great detail. And best of all, every interaction feels personalized-as if you're the only guest they're serving that day. Four Seasons really knows how to make you feel special.

Why Do We Choose Four Season Resort Bali at Sayan

This is one of the most perfect resorts; close to the center of Ubud but still feeling like an escape from everything. It's only about 10 minutes from the center, but the vibe changes completely as soon as you step inside. Surrounded by lush tropical forest and a direct view of the Ayung River flowing below, this resort gives you a serenity that you can't find in the city center.

We stayed at Four Seasons Sayan and the only hard part was leaving. The staff made us feel less like guests and more like family. They greeted us by name every time, somehow knew what we needed before we asked, and were just genuinely warm in a way you can’t fake. When I realized I’d forgotten my hair straightener, they offered to drive into town and buy one for me. That kind of thing happened constantly. The property is immaculate. Someone is always tending to it, and you won’t find so much as a stray leaf on the ground. Our villa got serviced a few times a day. They’d open it up in the morning and clean our private pool, then come back in the evening to turn down the room and close everything out for the night. The food was spectacular. The breakfast menu was perfectly curated, every dish thoughtful and delicious, and the coffee was the best we’ve ever had. Dinner and the bar bites were just as good. Don’t skip the chicken kebabs. The spa was another highlight. My husband and I had the best facial and massage of our lives, no exaggeration. If you stay here, do not miss it. And the setting is just stunning. It sits right in the lush Ayung River valley, with that famous lotus-pond entrance and the sound of the jungle all around you. But what stuck with us most was the people. Every interaction felt personal, and by the end it honestly felt like saying goodbye to friends. If you’re thinking about Bali, stay here. We can’t wait to come back.

Hi, Anastasia here! I was born and raised in Bali, which means I’ve basically been island-hopping, waterfall-chasing, and café-hunting since forever. Over the years, I’ve reviewed more than 185 places — focusing on nature spots like secret beaches, scenic trails, and cultural corners, while also keeping up with the latest restaurants, cafés, and beach clubs. Through OnBali, I share real, first-hand insights to help you explore Bali like a local and discover the kind of places that don’t always make it onto Instagram.
