We stopped by SKOOL Kitchen in Canggu to get the full experience, and it’s safe to say it delivered on all fronts. The open-plan setup is a total winner—with the open kitchen and outdoor seating offering unbeatable oceanfront views. This place is all about pure, bold flavors, where every dish meets the flame for that signature, smoky touch.

Founded by Tai Buddha and Adam MacAsey (the minds behind The Lawn and Bossman), SKOOL Kitchen makes our list of the best restaurants in Canggu for a reason. Our favorite? A perfectly grilled steak enjoyed with the waves crashing at Batu Bolong Beach. It’s the kind of oceanfront restaurant in Canggu that gets everything right: great food, relaxed vibes, and a sunset view that seals the deal.

Our experts expierence from Skool Kitchen

Reservation

We suggest making an advanced booking via their official website as the place is pretty popular once it opens and during dinner time. We don’t suggest walk-ins to avoid the disappointment of not getting a table.

Parking

Sharing the same ground with The Lawn ensures that you can easily find a parking spot, whether you drive a car or ride a motorbike.

Service

We applauded the staff’s attentiveness from the time we made the reservation until we sat at our table. The food arrived reasonably quickly and the server ensured that everything was to our liking.

Why do we choose Skool Kitchen?

Primitive and modern are two opposite qualities but, at SKOOL Kitchen, the cooking style and contemporary layout complement each other beautifully. The grilled seafood and meat menus are the stars here, and prompt service plus a delightful seating area make the dining experience ten times better.

SKOOL Kitchen is a rare place in Canggu because they not only sell the view but also the excellent food. Perfect for a meet-up and even a date, look no further than SKOOL Kitchen if you want your dinner to be fulfilling, both literally and figuratively.

I’d been wanting to try Skool Kitchen for a while and it did not disappoint!! We were lucky to sort a booking on the day - we wanted to book on an evening we knew there’d be a nice sunset. Sat at the bar for a beautiful cocktail before sitting down to dine. The whole experience was fabulous!!

Had dinner at SKOOL to celebrate a birthday and had a really great experience. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food was excellent! Ordered the grilled octopus, wood fire gnocchi, ribeye, and tartare. The octopus and gnocchi were amazing and a must-try. I had noted a birthday in the booking, and they even messaged to ask for the name. We were too full for dessert, but they still surprised us with a complimentary birthday treat (which is extremely yummy), such a thoughtful gesture from the lovely team at SKOOL! Great service, food, and atmosphere. Would definitely come back again, especially for the octopus!

Excellent food: - pork chop loin with melt in your mouth fat, tender meat - macadamia Tofu which was hugely surprising in how good it was - both taste and texture! Very complementary pairing with chilli oil and grilled mushrooms for an overall savoury body Amazing views: needless to say as per tons of other reviews - gorgeous sunset by the beach, tho weather-dependent Even more excellent service (unfortunately didn’t get their names): - they so graciously surprised us with an absolutely delicious Honeymoon congratulatory dessert!!! 🥰 - also constantly checked on us with how our food quality was Just found the neighbouring beach club music a tad too loud, affecting conversations, but otherwise a recommended experience 😊💯

Hi everyone! My name is Catur, and I was born and raised in Central Java. I moved to Bali in 2011 but left the island in 2016 before returning in 2018. Bali feels more than a home to me, and maybe that’s why my name feels like a premonition. Catur means four, both in the Balinese and Javanese languages. It is spoken like ‘c’ in chess, which is also the meaning of my name in Indonesian.
