We stopped by SKOOL Kitchen in Canggu to get the full experience, and it’s safe to say it delivered on all fronts. The open-plan setup is a total winner—with the open kitchen and outdoor seating offering unbeatable oceanfront views. This place is all about pure, bold flavors, where every dish meets the flame for that signature, smoky touch.

Founded by Tai Buddha and Adam MacAsey (the minds behind The Lawn and Bossman), SKOOL Kitchen makes our list of the best restaurants in Canggu for a reason. Our favorite? A perfectly grilled steak enjoyed with the waves crashing at Batu Bolong Beach. It’s the kind of oceanfront restaurant in Canggu that gets everything right: great food, relaxed vibes, and a sunset view that seals the deal.

Our experts expierence from Skool Kitchen

Reservation

We suggest making an advanced booking via their official website as the place is pretty popular once it opens and during dinner time. We don’t suggest walk-ins to avoid the disappointment of not getting a table.

Parking

Sharing the same ground with The Lawn ensures that you can easily find a parking spot, whether you drive a car or ride a motorbike.

Service

We applauded the staff’s attentiveness from the time we made the reservation until we sat at our table. The food arrived reasonably quickly and the server ensured that everything was to our liking.

Why do we choose Skool Kitchen?

Primitive and modern are two opposite qualities but, at SKOOL Kitchen, the cooking style and contemporary layout complement each other beautifully. The grilled seafood and meat menus are the stars here, and prompt service plus a delightful seating area make the dining experience ten times better.

SKOOL Kitchen is a rare place in Canggu because they not only sell the view but also the excellent food. Perfect for a meet-up and even a date, look no further than SKOOL Kitchen if you want your dinner to be fulfilling, both literally and figuratively.

Worst experience ever! We are regular guests here. (Booking under my husbands name in case you plan to reply with “we checked & there is no reservation under your name“ as you reply to every other negative comment!) But their customer service seems to went down the drain. 1. You have to make a deposit of 49 usd - which is fine but once you go there to dine they will tell you the deposit did not reach them and you have to pay the full bill and they will send the amount back to your credit card. All good until here. The next day they message you and tell you that if they have to send the money back to you they have to deduct 200k IDR and this is guests responsibility! Like what? Why? This is absolutely ridiculous, not sure who came up with this idea, but looks like a scam to me! 2. We ordered lots of food and ate. And still had 30min on their 2h table policy so we had our drinks and watched the sunset. Our waiter came twice to ask for dessert which we declined. Then around 1 min later another waiter came to ask if we want to order dessert and i said: “but your colleague just asked us a minute ago” in the same moment I lool at our waitress to the left and she is standing there staring at us ashamed that I literally caught her as she sent her colleague to check if we want to order dessert. Another 10 min later she came again and we were asked for the 4th time to order dessert. And I said: my dear you asked us 4 times now and 4 times we said no. And she said: because you only have 2 hours then you have to leave” we said we know but we still have time and we still have drinks, we were not sitting on an empty table and before we ordered lots of food enough for 4 people even though we are only 2 people! So something was super off this evening. We did not feel like complaining about this bad service yesterday but now the issue with refunding our deposit even though it is their fault and their responsibility was really the cherry on top. So from now on this place is an absolute no-go for us. (Btw they just called us and had a long useless phone call with not taking any responsibility. They ask for deposits a day before dinner, if it does not reach them on time it is their responsibility to pay us the full amount back and not deduct THEIR bank fees from our deposit- considering we already paid extras fees for transferring to them.

Sorry but this is nothing else but a scam. let’s call it as it is.

Because we had a large group, we were required to choose set menus, but the price and the food didn’t feel reasonable. Many of the same dishes were served repeatedly, which made the meal feel repetitive. I’d suggest offering individual sets with smaller portions but more variety, so we could experience a wider range of flavors. The food also wasn’t taste good — some dishes were too salty, and the shrimp didn’t taste fresh. Also, the service wasn’t great, and we felt rushed toward the end. What we expected to be the best meal in Bali turned out to be the most disappointing.

Hi everyone! My name is Catur, and I was born and raised in Central Java. I moved to Bali in 2011 but left the island in 2016 before returning in 2018. Bali feels more than a home to me, and maybe that’s why my name feels like a premonition. Catur means four, both in the Balinese and Javanese languages. It is spoken like ‘c’ in chess, which is also the meaning of my name in Indonesian.
