We stopped by SKOOL Kitchen in Canggu to get the full experience, and it’s safe to say it delivered on all fronts. The open-plan setup is a total winner—with the open kitchen and outdoor seating offering unbeatable oceanfront views. This place is all about pure, bold flavors, where every dish meets the flame for that signature, smoky touch.

Founded by Tai Buddha and Adam MacAsey (the minds behind The Lawn and Bossman), SKOOL Kitchen makes our list of the best restaurants in Canggu for a reason. Our favorite? A perfectly grilled steak enjoyed with the waves crashing at Batu Bolong Beach. It’s the kind of oceanfront restaurant in Canggu that gets everything right: great food, relaxed vibes, and a sunset view that seals the deal.

Our experts expierence from Skool Kitchen

Reservation

We suggest making an advanced booking via their official website as the place is pretty popular once it opens and during dinner time. We don’t suggest walk-ins to avoid the disappointment of not getting a table.

Parking

Sharing the same ground with The Lawn ensures that you can easily find a parking spot, whether you drive a car or ride a motorbike.

Service

We applauded the staff’s attentiveness from the time we made the reservation until we sat at our table. The food arrived reasonably quickly and the server ensured that everything was to our liking.

Why do we choose Skool Kitchen?

Primitive and modern are two opposite qualities but, at SKOOL Kitchen, the cooking style and contemporary layout complement each other beautifully. The grilled seafood and meat menus are the stars here, and prompt service plus a delightful seating area make the dining experience ten times better.

SKOOL Kitchen is a rare place in Canggu because they not only sell the view but also the excellent food. Perfect for a meet-up and even a date, look no further than SKOOL Kitchen if you want your dinner to be fulfilling, both literally and figuratively.

I went in by chance because Lawn was crowded, but I really enjoyed the much better view and atmosphere. Both the chicken legs and grilled fish were delicious, and the server even gave us a complimentary cocktail!!

Personally I was disappointed with the taste of the food and service. The emphasis on everything being touched by fire was not reflected in the food. Any smokiness was overpowered by creaminess or sweetness. Service was also lacking, was given a funny look when I did not order any wines. We had 9 people and was forced to split tables else we had to order their course menu. Getting the attention of the wait staff was consistently a challenge. The service provided also deteriorated throughout the night, at the end, the staff didn\'t even bother to smile anymore despite us being courteous to them. Biggest disappointment was the ribeye which was completely burnt on the outside, not charred, BURNT. The steak was cooked medium as requested but the bitterness of the burnt crust overpowered any beef flavour. The sauce provided was also tasteless, perhaps because of the overpowering bitterness. The steak was closer to 200g in weight instead of the listed 350g (I\'ve worked in a steak house before) The only saving grace was the potato gratin, the sunset that we enjoyed thoroughly and that they served the food at our requested time Overall it was a very disappointing meal, everything was very heavy, even the dishes which should be light. Do not recommend

We had the best food experience so far in Bali! We loved everything, especially the octopus. Service was great and definitely a cool vibe. We booked at 7.30 but I think experience is even better at sunset time. Bravo to the chef and team.
