Reservations

Locavore NXT doesn't accept walk-ins, so you need to plan your visit here because securing a table is difficult. You can make a booking directly on their website and, if you can get a table, get ready for the most mind-blowing dinner (or lunch) in Bali.

Welcoming Service

From the get-go, you'll be greeted with the choice of a warm and cool towel before another staff member ushers you to the so-called lobby. Then, you'll be served a welcome drink and snack with a small card explaining the concept. Before heading to the main restaurant, you'll be taken on a short tour of Locavore NXT, including their Mushroom Chamber with a 3D BIO Library.

First Impression

Impressive is not a significant enough word to describe Locavore NXT as this is the only Indonesian restaurant taking sustainability to the next level. The high ceilings, the Food Forest on the way to the main building, the welcome snacks and drinks, and the short tour are carefully planned and executed perfectly by the team members. The anticipation is high even before they bring out the first course!

Why do we choose Locavore NXT?

Saying that Locavore NXT has looked to revolutionise the dining experience in Bali is an understatement because they are more than just the flavour of the creative cuisine presented on the set menu. By committing to only using locally seasonal ingredients, which means they have to be creative in creating and adapting to what's available, Locavore NXT confidently propels itself as among the best of Indonesia's top restaurants.

With the Wood Rooms steadily making waves, it surely won't be long before Locavore NXT becomes an icon of the dining scene in Bali that people will remember for years to come.

We cannot recommend this place enough (if you can secure a table), as each dish at Locavore NXT will stay with you long after you leave the restaurant. Locavore NXT is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one you will talk about over and over again. Don't blame us if you immediately make a reservation for your next visit.

An unforgettable dining experience — Locavore NXT is creative, thoughtful, and truly next-level. Every course was a beautiful balance of storytelling, local ingredients, and surprising flavors. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. This isn’t just a meal — highly recommend for anyone who loves food as art and adventure.

Amazing experience! More than just a tasting menu, it was an exploration of food from Indonesia and beyond. Make sure to get the alcoholic + non-alcoholic drinks pairings as they blend perfectly with the food.

I don\'t know how to start this review, as I probably have a very different view from many here. Honestly, I hated the dinner. I had a very good experience from the previous Locavore (so were my friends), so I decided to bring my partner for a birthday celebration. How should I put it.... I feel they have gone way too gimmicky. I understand the sustainability and natural approach but they have gone too far... not all wine have to be nature wine (and honestly as a semi-wine professional, some of the nature wine they served was poorly made). My opinion is, you don\'t have to make everything from scratch by yourself, leave some of them to the experts who have been making it for ages and know how, instead of experimenting yourself (like some soy sauce for example). The whole dinner feels very experimental, like they are still figuring out the menu or what\'s best to serve. Some dishes just felt unnecessary. Such as the \"work-in-progress\". Why would you create a cheese dish using some seeds, just to make it taste similar to cheese (without the cheese texture). You can just use a simple, good cheese... why complicate things? There are too many story telling, which if too long, feels tiring (for both the staffs and guests). Sometimes a good restaurant just needs to focus on serving good food without too many \"tricks\" or \"stories\" (I do understand it kinda became a trend in some high end restaurants to keep sharing their stories). Not every dish has to have a story. And if you spent so much time to create the experience and stories, then better make sure the dishes can really standout, after all this is still a restaurant isn\'t it? The presentation was amazing I have to say, but most of the dishes didn\'t taste so. Nothing stood out for me. Some were a tad too salty (but to be fair that can be very subjective). One of the main dish, the chicken and lobster dish.. a kampung chicken is suppose to be flavorful with good texture of the meat, why would anyone deconstruct such good meat and lobster into a pate-mouthfeel \"thingy\".. it\'s such a waste of good meat, as the flavor, juice and bouncy texture of a good piece of meat and lobster were just lost. I haven been to too many Michelin or so called top restaurants around the world, one thing I still truly believe is that good ingredients just need simple cooking. Last but not the least, you really need to look into your pairing. It was very badly done. I remembered the previous Locavore was just a simple one, people sit down and food was served, instead of this 3-hour \"show\" where you need to run around different rooms and listen to stories you probably won\'t even pay attention to. My partner said it is an \"interesting experience\", I agree, but as a fine dinning restaurant, I feel the focus has been wrong. Big disappointment especially with a price tag like that. There are too many better choices locally.

My wife and my experienced Nxt recently and I have struggled with my review. The compound is amazing. From the long driveway to the check in at the garden shed (think the movie “The Menu”) to the first few courses served prior to sitting in the dining room - everything was magical. However, the food is really not that great. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the local concept and the use of fermentation…but it just goes too far. Some dishes were amazing, but some warranted just a taste and a push aside of the plate. The drink pairings are sometimes ok and sometimes awful. We did both the alcohol and non-alcohol pairing. However, it is an experience. Hard to believe it is a few hundred meters off a main road in bustling Ubud. As for price…it’s expensive but fair. Extremely expensive for locals, but for a 3 hour experience in an amazing venue, $350USD for 2 people is acceptable.

Hi everyone! My name is Catur, and I was born and raised in Central Java. I moved to Bali in 2011 but left the island in 2016 before returning in 2018. Bali feels more than a home to me, and maybe that’s why my name feels like a premonition. Catur means four, both in the Balinese and Javanese languages. It is spoken like ‘c’ in chess, which is also the meaning of my name in Indonesian.
