Some call Bali a melting pot of cultures, which makes perfect sense. Of course, Italy, with its rich history and culture, is not an exception; its influence on Bali goes back centuries. Fun fact: Indonesia was among the first Asian countries to establish economic and other relations. Probably, a common ground was found thanks to the shared love of Balinese and Italian people for art and food.

The variety impresses, and you can choose from fine-dining restaurants to family-owned pizzerias. Are you planning your trip to Bali? Da Maria Bali

Da Maria is a fancy Italian restaurant in Bali that captures the relaxed ambiance of the Mediterranean coast.

The place specialises in satisfying the locals’ craving for pizza, and people there can be picky with their dining experience, trust me! So, as you could already have guessed, at Da Maria, they serve delicious pizzas. However, there is more to that: unique cocktails, seafood delicacies, melt-in-your-mouth gelato, a trendy interior and fantastic parties. Yes, there is good news for party lovers: the restaurant throws some of the best nightlife events with marvellous ocean views.

Da Maria also offers vegetarian and vegan options, like tuna tartar or avocado rolls with fresh salmon, homemade pasta with pesto sauce or an antipasti platter featuring grilled vegetables and cheese served with warm breadsticks. They regularly update their menu to keep up with their clients’ demands.

Da Maria’s bar has a great selection of wines, including award-winning ones, produced by Italy’s finest wineries. On top of that, they also have other alcoholic beverages that are no worse. These include the best beers from Belgium, England, and America and other spirits from every corner of the world.

The atmosphere at Da Maria is relaxed yet trendy and sophisticated. What helps them with that? A combination of dark wood floors and high ceilings makes it ideal for private parties or simply enjoying dinner with friends.

Samesa Canggu

Samesa is a unique restaurant in Canggu run by an Italian chef. His name is Andrea, and he has created an exceptional concept inspired by his grandma, who used to invite people over to eat even if she didn’t know them.

With this concept (though it might seem way too simple), visitors can choose from 15–20 surprise dishes and unlimited limoncello all night long. The menu is different every night, but you can expect every delicious Italian dish, like raw tuna, grilled octopus, and homemade king prawn pasta. Plus, because the chef is in charge of the open kitchen every night, each dinner is a unique experience. If you want to make sure you have a seat, you should book it early because it gets packed quickly!

The chef is also the owner, so all of the dishes are made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The menu changes often, but if you want something that’s always on the menu, try the lobster risotto. This is one of their most popular dishes because it’s so creamy and delicious!

The atmosphere at Samesa is very romantic and cosy–perfect for couples or even large groups of friends looking for something new in Bali. And try their Negroni.

Bottega Italiana

Those looking for great taste and a casual atmosphere will indeed like the cosy place known as Bottega Italiana. With a focus on no-frills cooking, the eatery brings true joy to its guests. The chefs use only the best natural products, carefully checked for high quality and freshness. All the dishes served are made by hand, and what’s more important, all the ingredients and homemade products can be bought and taken home right there from a small, high-quality food shop. What do they have there for you? Restarant-level fresh pasta, sauces, and olive oils infused with herbs. Yummy-yum!

Apart from traditional pastas (Carbonara, Bolognese or Alfredo – it’s your choice), time-tested delicious pizza, garlic bread and delicious tiramisu, you can also order seafood delicacies such as calamari fritti or grilled fish. As for the vibes – well, it’s super relaxing! But you can still feel like a king when enjoying your dinner accompanied by top-notch jazz music performed live by local bands.

Rolling Fork Bali

Rolling Fork is a lovely place inspired by Italian history, culture and food. The owners of the place managed to combine universally known traditions and exciting innovation in their approach to food art. From online reviews on Google, one can see that the guests describe the eatery as a place “where everyone feels comfy and at home.”

What about the perfect place to enjoy your food? I personally prefer to have my dinner there on their charming patio designed in the finest colonial style. You can do it too – with a glass of good red wine or a cocktail of your choice.

The menu offers an extensive selection of delicious Italian dishes to choose from, including well-known and much-loved appetisers like caprese salad or bruschetta (toasted bread with tomato sauce or other toppings), main courses such asspaghetti with meatballsor lasagna bolognese. All types of pasta are available here, too.

L’Osteria Ubud

L’Osteria is one of these “not way too fancy” places but an Italian piece of peaceful heaven. If you’re into great Italian food at reasonable prices, you can look no further! Here is the news: both locals and guests on the island can enjoy a delicious Italian meal without leaving the island.People who live in the area love the place, as it’s not only about mouthwatering Neapolitan pizza (chef’s pride!) with a thin crust and rich toppings. It’s also about the audience and family-like ambience.

Not a fan of a pizza? No worries, you have PLENTY of other options, such as homemade pasta, traditional appetisers, or even risotto. And don’t worry about the children – the place is child-friendly, and your little ones can enjoy special small pizzas shaped like Disney heroes!

Salsa Verde

The restaurant is located in Grand Hyatt Bali, which is a 5-star resort situated on Nusa Dua beach. There are several restaurants and bars at this hotel, but Salsa Verde is our favourite place to eat because of its beachside location, beautiful gardens, and perfect atmosphere. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you can enjoy Italian cuisine with a twist of coastal flavors, such as grilled king prawns, fresh seafood pasta, and pizza.

If you want to taste good Italian food in a romantic atmosphere, then come over to Salsa Verde! We highly recommend the burrata cheese pizza with parma ham, linguine vongole pasta cooked perfectly with fresh clams, and king prawns grilled over a charcoal fire. You can also ask them what they recommend based on the seasonal ingredients available in Bali.

Expert Opinion

In Bali, a touristic gem, there are many Italian restaurants. However, only a few of them manage to win my heart with their excellent service, delicious food, and cosy atmosphere.

Here are my personal TOP 3 for Italian restaurants in Bali:

Rolling Fork, Da Maria, Bottega Italiana

I chose these restaurants because they all have a great ambiance, but what’s more important, the quality of food is top-notch, the cocktails are fantastic and the service is super friendly.

One thing that I love about Italian cuisine is how simple it is to make. The ingredients are available almost everywhere, and you don’t need too much time to prepare them. That’s why the list also features a place where you can get them at affordable price.

Another thing that I like about Italian food is that it can be enjoyed in many different ways: as an appetiser, main course, or dessert.

Enjoy your Italian meal and Bali!
